Dubai, Feb 01th, 2009 (WAM): Dubai Crown Prince HH Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum launched today the Hamdan Bin Mohammed e-University, the first e-university in the Arab region.

The university named after his name is the manifestation of the vision of Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum for educational development in the UAE and his goal for attaining the highest global standard in education.

A documentry film on the history of education was shown at the launch ceramony at Burj Al Arab hotel Dubai. The film ended with a brief introduction about the Hamdan Bin Mohammed e-university.

The Vice-Chancellor of the e-University Mr. Mansour Al Our said in an address that the new e-university is the result of efforts of UAE government for finding modern media for education. The e-university is also a natural development of the Dubai E-College for Total Quality (e-TQM), he told.

Dedicating the institution to the nation, the Crown Prince switched on the e-university announcing its formal opening. The e-university is a great boon for all those who wish to continue education in their chosen fields at their own pace. The web-portal will broadcast lessons and lectures across the internet enabling the registered students to study at their own homes.

Sheikh Hamdan then listened to the faculties who briefed him of various programmes of the e-university.

The Commission for Academic Accreditation (CAA) of UAE has accredited four programmes, which include B.A in Business Quality and Management, Master of Science in Innovation and Change Management, Master of Science in Organisational Excellence and Master of Science in Public Health.

In his speech with the faculty staff Sheikh Hamdan underlined the importance of e-education, as the conventional education has witnessed several changes giving way to innovative methods. The e-education represents the future of the educational reality, he noted
