Sharjah, 19th Feb. 2009 (WAM) — H. H. Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council member and ruler of Sharjah, opened yesterday the first ”East Charm : British Oriental Paintings 1830-1925” exhibition at Sharjah Museum.

Sheikh Sultan toured the exhibition which features 85 works depicting a critical milestone in the history of the region and runs up to 30 April.

The Sharjah Museums Department was established in 2006 by His Highness the Ruler as an independent government department affiliated to the Ruler’s Office. The Sharjah Museums Department oversees and links the current and future museums of Sharjah. The Sharjah Museums cover the arts, Islamic culture and history, heritage and history of Sharjah and the region, archaeology, science, children’s learning and natural history.
