Product Description
Christianity or Islam: which is the real “religion of peace”?

Almost any liberal pundit will tell you that there’s a religion bent on destroying our Constitution, stripping us of our liberties, and imposing religious rule on the U.S. And that religion is . . .Christianity! About Islam, however, the Left is silent–except to claim a moral equivalence between the two: if Islam has terrorists today, that’s nothing compared to the Crusades, inquisitions, and religious wars in Christianity’s past.

But is this true? Are conservative Christians really more of a threat to free societies than Islamic jihadists? Is the Bible really “just as violent” as the Qur’an? Is Christianity’s history really as bloodstained as Islam’s? In Religion of Peace? Why Christianity Is and Islam Isn’t, New York Times bestselling author Robert Spencer not only refutes such charges, but also explains why Americans and Europeans must regain an appreciation of our Christian heritage if we ever hope to defeat Islamic supremacism. In this eye opening work, Spencer reveals:

* The fundamental differences between Islamic and Christian teachings about warfare against other religions: “Love your enemies” vs. “Be ruthless to the unbelievers”

* The myth of Western immorality and Islamic puritanism and why the Islamic world is less moral than the West

* Why the Islamic world has never developed the distinction between religious and secular law that is inherent in Christianity

* Why Christianity has always embraced reason–and Islam has always rejected it

* Why the most determined enemies of Western civilization may not be the jihadists at all, but the leftists who fear their churchgoing neighbors more than Islamic terrorists

* Why Jews, Christians, and peoples of other faiths (or no faith) are equally at risk from militant Islam

Spencer writes not to proselytize, but to state a fact: Christianity is a true “religion of peace,” and on it Western civilization stands. If we are not to perish under Islam’s religion of the sword–with its more than 100 million active jihadists seeking to impose sharia law–we had better defend our own civilization.

  1. Following in the footsteps of such true “Christians” as Jerry Fallwell, Pat Robertson, and Torquemada, Spencer does an admirable job of cherry-picking his way through deep and inconsistent religious texts. Not coincidentally, Spencer choses BOTH Islamic and Christrian texts and verses out of context, and there should be no surprise from the title how Spencer wants to line up the “facts.” Interestingly, this book comes during a period where there is an increase in non-faith or atheistic texts whose purpose is to show that morality and religion are not intertwined or interdependant concepts. And its this point that Spencer, who is blinded by the same zeal he finds in the “other, can’t see inches from his own face.

At a time when the world needs more understanding and efforts to find the common thread in each other, Spencer and his followers fall into the deep trenches of fear and hatred that have followed religious zealotry for centuries. I feel sorry for Spencer and the small and lonely fortress where he mind resides.

  2. Spencer almost blind folded by hate for Jihadis.

Jihadis are not Muslims.I suggest you meet your average Muslim before you write your next book.

There are not 100m Jihadis around the world their number would not reach even 10,000.

Where do you get your figures from?

Is Musad providing you with these interesting numbers?

The same information was given to US to invade Iraq because Saddam had nuclear weapons and chemicals weapons.

Mr. Spencer has no intention to be rational but provoke hate against Muslim.

I understand the problem of Muslim world today and how some irrational Muslim tarnishing the religious of Islam .

But Mr. Spencer do you ignore what your Christianity did to others up until 1800 century.

You forgot your holy bible believe the world was flat and did not believe in blood circulation?

What did the Christian did to Newton when he published his finding that the earth was round not flat?

What did your so called peace loving Christian did to Muslim of Andalusia?

Your book is one sided ignorant and the only thing you achieve is to help your bank balance. Every religion has its fault , we don’t have a perfect religion but if it was not for believing in ones god the world would have been full of idiots like you.

  3. It is a sign of just how anti-Arab and anti-Muslim this country is that this book and its author, Robert Spencer, get the reception they do.

The best that can be said of Spencer is that he is ill-informed. The worst is that he a brazen advocate of American war crimes, and that’s putting it mildly. Like Ann Coulter, Michelle Malkin, Daniel Pipes, and a dismayingly large number of others, Spencer is a self-appointed expert eagerly accepted by institutions and news organizations determined to vilify every Muslim and Arab on the planet.

This and other works of his are riddled with errors, thick with deliberate misrepresentations. Were something like this written by an Arab of any affiliation, it would instantly be paraded as an example of how “malevolent” Islam is (and of course, this has happened).

  4. No matter how many times Spencer re-arranges the “Christians all good, Muslims all bad” theme he first unleashed with _Islam Unveiled_, people keep falling for it and buying it.

I hold the US public school system to blame for this sad fact.

  5. Spencer attacks Islam and Central figures, picking and choosing only few peaceful verses in the bible and the only few warlike verses in the Koran.

He talks about how Christianity is all about peace and love using the “love thy enemies verse” Yet never mentions such hateful verses of Jesus such as:

    Matthew 10.34-35

    34. Think not that I(Jesus) come to send peace on earth. I came not to

    send peace, but a sword.

    35. For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the

daughter against her mother, and the daughter-in-law against her

    mother-in-law.

The missionary, so as to retain the impression of the “meek and gentle

Jesus”, “the Prince of Peace”, pleads that the SWORDS were spiritual! If

the swords were spiritual, then the “garments” must also be spiritual, for

in a verse later on Jesus tells his disciples to sell their garments for

    swords:

    “He said to them, ‘But now if you have a purse, take it and also a bag;

and if you don’t have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one.

    (From the Bible, Luke 22:36)”

If the disciples of Jesus were to sell their SPIRITUAL garments to buy

SPIRITUAL swords, in that case they would all become SPIRITUALLY naked!

Furthermore, one does not lop off peoples physical ears with spiritual

    swords —

“And, behold, one of those who were with Jesus stretched out his hand, and

    drew his SWORD, and

struck a servant of the high priests, and cut off his ear.”

    (HOLY BIBLE) Matthew 26:51

The only purpose of swords or guns is to maim and to kill. People did not

carry swords to pare apples and bananas in the time of Christ.

Moreover, I find it to be absolutely ridiculous that Spencer feeds us all kinds of lies and contradictions about “love your enemy”, and yet, we see mass slaughter of suckling infants and innocent boys, girls, unarmed men, women (old and young), and innocent domestic farm animals by the tens of thousands(1 Samuel 15:2-4)! It is clear that the inconsistent man-altered, man-corrupted and morally corrupt bible is nothing but a false book, and can not be a Divine and Perfect Holy Book and Christianity is NOT the religon of peace that Spencer so emphatically tries to point out.
