Abu Dhabi, 1st Dec 2008 Impressive bids, enticing entertainment and a supreme dining experience enthralled guests at the International Auction of the Italian White Truffle at Kempinski’s Emirates Palace last night.
Presented simultaneously with prestigious locations in U.K, Italy and China, the event attracted locally based guests from elite quarters of fine-dining, sport, Government and entertainment.
The pinnacle of the event was the Auction’s largest Italian White Truffle that weighed in at 1.080 kilograms.
This exquisite gastronomy was found in the Molise region of Italy and was sold at the Rome location to the highest bidder from Macao, for over $200,000 USD.
“It was a truly enjoyable event and with interactive bidding from each Auction location, the room was a buzz with excitement and anticipation” said Hans Olbertz, General Manager, Emirates Palace.
“The Auction results were so impressive, we are thrilled to donate the funds raised at Emirates Palace to the Emirates Foundation,” Olbertz concluded.
During the Emirates Palace segment of the Auction five truffles were sold ranging in sale price from $2,500 USD to $8,200 USD. Thanks to these amazing truffles and prestige designer items, over $26,000 USD was raised for the Emirates Foundation, the selected host city charity.
