Abu Dhabi June 22nd, 2010 — Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research received yesterday Amy Gutmann, president of the University of Pennsylvania and Thomas Robertson, dean of Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, and a number of other academics who are visiting the country.
He also received a number of senior officials from centre’s, research institutions, and branches of foreign universities that have partnership agreements with Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT) and Centre of Excellence for Applied Research and Training, “CERT.” They discussed the importance of higher education based on modern technology that plays important role in the development of the countries and their communities.
Sheikh Nahyan explained that the policy focuses on the provision of excellent education facilities, rehabilitation and comprehensive training in order to be able to participate in economic development of the country.
Moreover, Sheikh Nahyan emphasized at the partnership among HCT, CERT, research institutions, and branches of foreign universities which aimed at renaissance and improvements of higher education in the country.
University of Pennsylvania delegation attended with the administrative team of HCT the first meeting of Wharton School in which several topics were discussed stressing on the ways of developing the cooperation with Centre of Excellence.
